Working with the trauma department to redesign the trauma guideline website

The Ask

Guidelines are a standard method of reference for providing care to all patients. Our challenge was to modernize the current guideline system for the trauma team to allow for intuitive creation, management, and access to trauma guidelines. This would enable them to:

My role in the team was Research Lead. I assisted with the approach, planning, methodologies, implementation, and designing of the end product.

Research Participants

Participants included various roles with varying experiences who would be interacting with the website daily. Our goal was to achieve a holistic perspective of the patient journey, who they interacted with, what roles were involved, and how the guideline system was utilized.

The Approach

The Outcome

The outcome was a more accessible system that allowed in-house creation of guidelines, allowed users to provide feedback on the guidelines, and provided features to help familiarize themselves quickly.

The Impact

This project won the Ohio State University 2018 capstone competition. It was presented to the hospital employees and senior leadership. The department was pleasantly surprised, and had plans to develop the website to ensure a better work flow and increase motivation for utilization.
